The pictures below were taken at the 2006 writers festival.

The 2nd Kimberley Writers Festival was held in Kununurra from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 June 2006. Kununurra, located in the East Kimberley , features the magnificent Ord River , beautiful escarpment country and a wonderful relaxed welcoming lifestyle for locals and visitors alike.

The Kununurra Community Library in Mangaloo Street hosted the festival including visiting authors, an art exhibition, musical entertainment, a celebrity author literary lunch, wine and cheese opening evening, a "Blues on Sundown" music concert, a literary boat cruise on the Ord River and a celebrity chef literary dinner.

Visiting authors included

· Di Morrissey , internationally acclaimed author who features stories of the Kimberley in many of her novels

· Kim Scott , award winning Indigenous WA novelist whose second novel, Benang won the Miles Franklin award

· "Backsliders" Sydney Blues Band and Rob Hirst of Midnight Oil fame

· Shaun Tan , award winning WA picture book author and illustrator

· Craig Smith , famous character children's picture book illustrator

· Leonie Norrington , WA Premier award winning children's novelist and ABC gardening expert

The Kimberley Writers Festival has been made possible with the support of Writing WA , Country Arts WA and the Regional Arts Fund, the Literature Board of the Australia Council, Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley, Kununurra District High School and local sponsorship
