
The Kimberley Writers Festival celebrates the written and creative word in the remote community of the East Kimberley, Kununurra , Western Australia. The festival is in its third year and the Kununurra Community Library is the very proud location and organiser of the festival. In 2007 the Kimberley Writers Festival welcomes the local community and visitors to the region to join with 10 visiting artists (professional authors, songwriters and musicians) and local Indigenous storytellers and authors to engage with books, reading, storytelling, creative writing and illustrating. The festival also includes a literary boat cruise, a rock concert on the banks of the Ord River and a local traditional corroboree performance.

Steve Hawke - author of Noonkabah and recent children's book Barefoot Kids
Anita Heiss - Anita is one of Australia's well known and prolific Indigenous author's with numerous awards for her contribution to literature . Anita's latest work is Not Meeting Mr Right
Frane Lessac and Jeannie Baker - award winning and prolific children's authors and picture book illustrators
Ghostwriters - musicians and songwriters Rob Hirst and Martin Rotsey (Midnight Oil), Rick Grossman (Hoodoo Gurus), Lee Maloney(Diesel) and DC.
